Our last week on the Costa Brava saw us venturing further afield and heading inland, north west of Girona, to visit the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa. This park contains 40 volcanic cones, 20 basalt lava flows and numerous small medieval villages.

After the winding drive along the rugged and spectacular Catalan coast of the Costa Brava we finally saw our destination – Tossa de Mar. The thing that immediately struck us was the walled ramparts and towers we could see on the promontory above the beach.

From St Albans to the Via Verde…
We had a day to fill in having completed our last house sit in the UK looking after Trigger the Cocker Spaniel. On Monday we would be flying to Girona, Spain on the Costa Brava for our next house sit. We decided to spend the afternoon wandering around the northern London suburb of St Albans. It turned out to be a great decision.
